Canada-Wide Science Fair

The Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) is Canada’s largest annual youth STEM event, bringing together top student innovators from across the country. Established in 1962 and hosted by Youth Science Canada, CWSF gives students in Grades 7–12/Cégep the opportunity to present original research and innovations, compete for national awards and scholarships, and connect with peers, judges, educators, and STEM professionals.

 

Purpose of CWSF

The purpose of CWSF is to celebrate youth curiosity, creativity, and excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The fair provides a national platform for students to share their discoveries, develop communication and research skills, receive expert feedback, and explore future opportunities in STEM.

CWSF 2026

​

CWSF 2026 was held from May 23 to May 30, 2026, at the Edmonton Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. The 64th annual Canada-Wide Science Fair brought together 390 student finalists, 344 STEM projects, 52 exhibitors, more than 7,000 visitors, and finalists representing approximately 100 regions across Canada.

Projects at CWSF 2026 were organized by project type, grade level, and challenge category. The two main project types were Discovery and Innovation. Grade levels included Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. The nine challenge categories included Aerospace; Agriculture, Fisheries & Food; Curiosity & Ingenuity; Digital Technology; Disease & Illness; Energy; Environment & Climate Change; Health & Wellness; and Natural Resources.
