Awards

Merit Awards (1 for each age group)

Gold: $150

Silver: $100

Bronze: $75

Special Awards:

 

Credit Valley Horticultural Society Award: $75

Up to 2 projects

Criteria: Projects related to horticultural, plants, environment stewardship

 

WEAO: $75

Up to 2 projects

Criteria: Projects related to resilient and sustainable water environment

 

uOttawa: $1000 entrance scholarship

Criteria: Best senior project (Grades 11 and 12)

Shad (x5): $750 towards Shad Program Fee

 

Junior projects

The Community Changemaker Award recognizes students whose science fair projects demonstrate exceptional curiosity, creativity, and initiative, alongside strong problem-solving and perseverance. The award celebrates young people who approach complex challenges thoughtfully and show the potential to use their ideas and skills to create meaningful, forward-looking impact. Recipients are selected not only for innovative outcomes, but for the mindset behind their work — valuing curiosity, determination, and purpose as essential qualities for shaping a better future.​

Other Non-merit Awards:

Most Inspirational Project Idea (x1): $50

Recognizes a project that sparked curiosity, imagination, or meaningful reflection. This award celebrates ideas that left a positive impression, encouraged new ways of thinking, or resonated with others in an unexpected way—regardless of outcome or complexity.

Craziest Idea (x1): $50

Celebrates a project that stood out for its boldness, originality, or unconventional approach. This award is meant to highlight creativity that pushes boundaries, embraces risk-taking, and explores ideas that are imaginative, surprising, or simply different.

​

Artistically Inspired Display Awards (x1): $50

Acknowledges a project that demonstrated a strong sense of visual or creative expression in its presentation. This award values how ideas are communicated through design, style, or aesthetic choices, creating an engaging or memorable experience for viewers.
